A certification is different from a license.
As a training academy, we provide students with a certificate of completion to demonstrate that you have taken the course and you have the knowledge to perform the service. However, we are not allowed to provide you with a license. Only your local health department is allowed to provide you with a license that will allow you to legally perform the service.
In Texas, you will need a tattoo license in order to legally perform the service. In order to obtain the license here is what you need:
- Take a training and obtain your certification
- Establish a place that you will be servicing clients at whether it be a salon, salon suite, room rental or bed rental. You will need this address on your tattoo license application.
- Fill out a Tattoo Application form and submit it to the health department. You will need your ID and to pay a registration fee ($927). Once you complete the form, the health department will contact you to schedule an inspection of your location and you will receive your license in the mail!
